The Atrium joining Studio Z in Stanwood!

posted Jun 28, 2012, 10:35 PM by Brian Hoyer

Lindsey began dancing at age 8 when her dad and his girlfriend took up swing, latin, and ballroom dancing as their new weekend hobby.  The dance community quickly bonded like family as everyone helped each other improve their dancing.  Lindsey grew increasingly passionate about dancing after learning west coast swing and hustle.  Her passion grew not only because of how enjoyable the dances were, but also because of how wonderful it felt to dance with friends and fellow dancers to fun, upbeat music every week!

Brian and Lindsey were engaged in January of 2008 giving Brian only 3 months to learn 4 dances for their wedding in March!  Luckily for Lindsey, Brian was a total natural and quickly learned to share her love for dancing.

One of Brian’s passions is creating more spaces in the community for people to engage one another in positive ways.  He works with youth in the community and organizes community service for adults, families, and youth through Serve It Up, a non-profit community service cooperative.

As Brian began to understand the social dancing culture, he saw how dancing could aid in cultivating a fun-loving atmosphere of community among people of diverse backgrounds.  Not only is it good exercise for any level of fitness; it also teaches respect, encourages intergenerational connection, and it provides a positive social nightlife for all ages.

We are excited to be living our dream with The Atrium and are thrilled to partner with Studio Z as we fulfill our mission to provide and promote activities that build community, inspire extraordinary health, and restore our world.”  ~Brian & Lindsey

Lindsey and Brian have been teaching dance in the Stanwood Camano area since 2009.  They support local business, natural health, organic foods, eco-friendly products, family oriented lifestyle, and of course love bringing people together through dance!

Journey is their bubbly 3 year old daughter.  The whole family is eagerly awaiting the arrival of another daughter in August of 2012!

We are finding a new location to hold our dances

posted Jun 23, 2012, 6:34 AM by Lindsey Hoyer   [ updated Jun 23, 2012, 6:35 AM ]

We will be finding a new location to hold our dances:
Our lease is up at this spot on June 29th. We were hoping to find someone to partner with so that we could stay open and it looked really promising for a while but they didn't work out. So...we're off to new adventures! The dance nights will still happen weekly just at a new location to be announced as soon as we know where.

Check the website, facebook, or the front door of The Atrium before next Friday to find out where we will be holding our dances next week.

Silent Auction Sunday June 24th: During the Classic car show downtown Stanwood, we will be opening up The Atrium for a silent auction to sell most everything in there, including the floor. We'll open the auction at 10:30AM and close at 2:30.

Dance in the street tomorrow....June 24th: Last year we did a flash mob in the street during the car show. This year all interested just show up a little before 2PM and we'll blast the music and dance our hearts out in the street. We can advertise what we do that way and it can also be a 30 minute warning for the end of the auction. :)

Thank you all for your support and we look forward to seeing how the dance community will continue to grow in the Stanwood/Camano area! We appreciate you and hope to see many of you tomorrow!

Laughter Club

posted Aug 29, 2011, 4:56 AM by Lindsey Hoyer   [ updated Aug 29, 2011, 3:16 PM by Brian Hoyer ]

Join us every Saturday morning at 10 AM for laughter exercises.

We relax with a cup of tea from TeabyTobi and visit with each other first to unwind and get comfortable.  Then we laugh!

Laughter provides a physical and emotional release, exercises your abs, shoulders, and heart, distracts you from stressful thoughts, gives a lighthearted perspective on life, and it has many social benefits as well!

Even with fake laughing (We pretty much guarantee that you will laugh for real though) your body will reduce the level of stress hormones, increase the level of health enhancing hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters, and boost your immune system.

Donations accepted!

We will be opening a space in downtown Stanwood where we will teach dancing, host dance parties, organize fun activities, and celebrate everything healthy and good in the world.  There will even be an organic tea bar hosted by Tobi Cain (www.teabytobi.com)!

If anyone wants to volunteer to help get the space ready please let us know.  We want this to be a place for the community and in order to do that we would love to have individuals come lend us their own personal touch! :)

Country 2 Step @ Gerry Andals starts Sunday March 6th!

posted Feb 13, 2011, 10:43 PM by Lindsey Hoyer   [ updated Feb 14, 2011, 4:07 PM by Brian Hoyer ]

We are starting a Country Two Step 4 week progressive class that will be held Sundays March 6th- March 27th 6:30-7:30 pm with a half hour open practice dance until 8pm.

Cost is $40 per person ($30 with purchase of a $20 Gerry Andal gift card)

So, if you buy the gift card essentially you are paying $10 for a $20 gift card because of the discount we give you on the lessons. A great deal for you, for Gerry Andals, and for us!

This class is currently full for followers.  We need 2-3 more leaders.

All are welcome to come and watch and also to participate in the practice dance from 7:30-8pm!

Here's a video of some Country Two Step social dancing so you can get a feel for what we are teaching.  This is a partner dance where you lead and follow, unlike many other country dances that are choreographed.
