About

Why "The Atrium"?

Historically the atrium was an open room in an ancient Roman house where people with similar interests or trades would get together to socialize, eat, and get to know one another.  It had an atmosphere of genuine community where friendships could flourish and people would form partnerships based on common goals for the good of the whole community.  Every person had something good to contribute and the atrium was the place where this would happen.

Below you can see the layout of a typical Roman house.  The atrium was the largest room, built to be the most happenin' place in the entire house!

Philosophy & Goals

The Atrium way of life represents a present day way of life that is mindful of each of our individual contributions to the world.  We invite you on a journey to participate in a movement that will positively contribute to the health of our community, your own personal health, & the health of the environment.  We invite you to do this in collaboration with the existing structures in our local community.

The goal is to seek out activities that bring people together and are conducive to developing genuine friendships with our neighbors, inspiring extraordinary health, and/or restoring our world.

These three main values motivate everything we do...

1) Building Community (Your communal contribution)

This means bringing people from the same locale together to develop a sense of community. It also means growing lifelong friendships and creating an atmosphere of acceptance and support for one another and our community. We do this by providing or promoting opportunities for friendships to bloom. (For example: dancing, hiking trips, educational workshops, day trips, etc.). We also build community by collaborating with local organizations and businesses to encourage community life and civic involvement through service projects and community events.

2) Inspiring Extraordinary Health (Your personal contribution to self & family)

When you experience an Atrium function you can be sure that you are going to encounter a healthy organic snack or recipe, encouraging words, new friends, and hopefully you'll leave feeling inspired and energized.  We support anything that promotes the holistic (emotional, mental, social, physical, & spiritual) well-being of individuals and families.

3) Restoring our World (Your environmental contribution)

The task of restoring the whole world (people, wildlife, and the environment) is so overwhelming, but when you adopt The Atrium "way of life", you'll find yourself actually contributing to a huge restoration movement. It's about the everyday choices that you make that can improve your health, support others in your community, and encourage a more sustainable way of life that is beneficial for everyone and everything.
